That's not OCD just a personal quirk, quirks are very common. I used to make sure I had an even number of bites when I ate breakfast, if I stepped on a crack in the sidewalk with one foot I would have to go back and step on it with the other.
OCD is more like spending hours of your day repeating your compulsions and dealing with horrible anxiety relating to your compulsions. Member since 2005 Diagnosed with Deuteranomaly (Colour blindness), Arthritis, Crohn's Disease (Immune Deficiency), and Bipolar Disorder.I currently take Azathioprine (Immunosuppressant), Lithium, Tegretol, and Ativan. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. |

I think it depends the level it gets too - right now it doesn't sound like it would qualify, but I for instance, like even numbers too
so your not alone, my favourite number is 4.. for me its a SAFE number. But because of this; I have to do things either 4,8,12,16* times. I have a wash routine of 4 things that I do 4 times a day, 4 hours apart.. I do it in exactly the same order, wash my face, brush my hair, brush my teeth and wash my hands.. I do each thing for exactly 4 mins ..etc..I do/have problems with other things too but it gives you an idea that it's a lot deeper then just preferring even numbers.. *16 is super safe number but only occurs when I'm extremely stressed. |

Hiya!
I just wanted to start by saying thank you for posting and asking for help! Sometimes that can take a lot of courage... Anyways, in one sense everybody has a certain amount of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in them. Some people have to sort their shopping onto shelves in a specific way, other people may have to check the lock before going to school or work a certain number of times. This doesn't mean that they suffer from OCD. OCD is generally diagnosable when it starts to impact upon and take over your life. If you spend hours every day worrying about the TV volume, washing yourself of checking things then you may well have OCD. It isn't necessarily something to worry about straight away, but I recommend paying a visit to your doctor if it upsets you, on TeenHelp we can't diagnose you with a disorder (because nobody is qualified!) Sometimes a trip to the doctor can work wonders! Take care, and I wish you the best of luck! Also, just as a heads up I'm going to move this to the Anxiety sub forum ![]() Adam |

Out of those numbers 12 is a rare occurance for me, I suppose because it is 4x3 -odd number freak-out.. it's normally when I'm going for 16 and people are getting in my way so I end up in complete melt-down.. OMG yes, my self-harm is quite like that.. I count strokes of each cut and things aswell.. As hard as I know it is, I'm so glad I'm not the only person to do it like that..
