Need tips -
August 10th 2011, 02:57 AM
Not sure if this is the right spot for this, feel free to move it if necessary.
My anxiety and paranoia are getting worse. I'm having the tightness in my chest again. I'm constantly terrified my parents are gonna walk in on me again. That they're gonna try and take my iPod again. That they're actually gonna find out everything again. I don't know how to cope. Help? I see my psychiatrist tomorrow. But I still don't know if he will be able to give me techniques. Anyone have anything? NO H8 What a terrible mess I'm in... |

I'm not sure how you could cope, besides deep breaths when you feel freaked, but can you not somehow lock your door so they can not just walk in randomly?

Hey
![]() I'm not sure if you're asking for tips for paranoia or your anxiety, I can offer you some help with you're anxiety problems though from experience and for your paranoia I can try and help but I don't know if my advice will be of any benefit ![]() For the anxiety, what works for one person, might not work for another, so you need to find something that's good for you Are you on any medication for your anxiety? If not, would that be something you could consider? I know being on medication has helped me so, so much and made a huge difference to my life, and it's really helped me do things I struggled to do before! Other then that when I'm feeling really anxious I try and think about something else, distract myself so my thoughts don't become irrational. Could that help you do you think? Other then that, I try to remove myself from the situation that is making me anxious, but sometimes this can be impractical for example when I'm at work or something. As for the paranoia, you need to make sure you don't let your thoughts spiral out of control and become extremely unrealistic. They can convince you of things that aren't real. Does your psychiatrist know about your struggles with both paranoia and anxiety? I think it could really benefit you to talk through these problems in depth, you might even be able to identify why you feel the way you do and how you can overcome these problems ![]() I hope you're going to be okay, be in touch if you need anything, take care. |

What exactly are you afraid that your parents will find out? In my opinion, the anxiety and paranoia is justified when you are doing something that could result in punishment or other consequences (ex. loss of trust with parents, physical or emotional harm to yourself). My advice? If what you are doing isn't good for you, don't do it. If you're having difficulty resisting the urges, tell your psychiatrist tomorrow, and consider opening up to your parents instead of shutting them out.
