Crocheting

So you all remember how I talked about teaching myself how to knit? I taught myself how to crochet now. I started out with the bulkier yarn and now I'm working with smaller yarn! I'm so proud of myself. This is something I have control over and can do that centers me. Granted, it isn't for everyone, but maybe some of you should try :p

That's so cool! Crocheting seems like such a relaxing activity, and I think it would be really fun to be able to make little gifts for people. How did you teach yourself?

Oooh, that is so awesome!! My mom used to crochet a lot of stuff for me when I was younger. In fact, I'm lying under a blanket she made for me right now! :p

I tried learning how to knit, and then crochet, but with my fine motor skills I really didn't have any luck with either of them. :p Oh, well! But I've definitely heard that it can be very calming - that's great that it works for you!! And I'm impressed that you taught yourself! I struggled with it even when I had someone helping me. I can understand why you're proud of yourself!

I just taught myself through trial and error and youtube tutorials :p My grandma smiles every time she sees me crocheting. She cannot crochet as much as she used to because her hands aren't as steady and eyesight not the greatest, and I think she's happy I'm carrying on the "family legacy" :hehe:

By the way, youtube tutorial is a good idea, I'll try too

I know how to do double stitch crochet but not very good at doing anything else nor how to change yarns or anything but I would love to continue this at some point and maybe we can chat. I tried knitting at some point too. I am so happy you taught yourself. I know it is something a lot of people enjoy and I'm happy you found something that centers you. What project are you working on right now?

The idea with tutoring videos is good, but you might want to think about turning your hobby into a business. Knitted products can be sold on the Internet and then earn a permanent clientele. I can recommend Choose the Best for Yourself edited and get advice on how to promote your new business. This can benefit you in the form of profit.

Re: Crocheting

I used to have difficulty in reading, but watching was something I could do easily and recently started learning to crochet via You Tube. I learnt to knit this same way: watching You Tube knitting tutorials. Now, Crochet.

A kind friend of Maman's gave her this easy-learn Octopus Crochet Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OgS...ature=emb_logo

As for knitting, now I do it without needing to watch (I count in my head), often following a TV prog. During autumn if the weather prevented me from going out, it'd sit by the wood stove and knit jumper, or crochet just for the fun of it.

Learning crochet is fun this way. This is why You Tube is so useful.
