new activities - March 17th 2010, 11:46 PM

Hey, recently I've been looking for extracurriculars that I can do in my spare time, because I've mostly spent my life in front of the computer and tv playing video games and I want to change. I really like sports, dancing, and other things, but most of them I've never done before in my life. I'm in high school right now, and I was wondering if there were any "noobie" friendly activities that I could learn from the start. Things like soccer and football usually are only for people that have been doing them for a long time and that goes the same for dance. I do Aikido right now, but other than that, my life is pretty bland. I also sing and play bass guitar, and want to learn acoustic guitar to sing with. Any ideas of things I could learn/do?

Ideas so far:
Swimming
Dance

Curling! For some reason. Lots of people learn it when they're teenagers. Our school has a team.
-You could also try taking a creative writing class.
-Take up running. If you're in good enough shape, you can compete.
-As for your swimming idea, if you don't know how to swim I strongly recommend you learn how even if you don't plan to pursue it.
-I don't know where you live but you could try water sports or skiing/snowboarding if it's accessible.
