Redecorating my bedroom, I'm lost and need ideas!

Sorry in advance if this isn't the appropriate forum!

So my parent's 'belated' 17th birthday present to me is to repaint my room and buy a few new items. Currently the walls are painted bright orange. I had wonderful ideas in sixth grade...

Other then my full-sized bed that has no head or base board, the only other pieces of furniture in my room is a white MALM dresser from Ikea, which I'm obligated to keep (I hate it.) and a small wooden television stand that isn't very noticeable.

Also, one of my walls is entirely covered in rock posters. So I need some ideas that won't entirely clash with that because those are going back up after I paint.

So basicaly I need ideas on what colors to use. For my walls, a comforter and hopefully some curtains. I just want something normal (orange is not normal) and relaxing. But I have no idea! I've googled some stuff but everything is full of "trendy teen bedroom ideas". Not helping.

So it seems like you kind of want to keep the rock theme... in that case if you want a softer tone I'd go with a light grey, but if you want to rev up the intensity go with bold red - which I have and LOVE it! All black furniture would look great AND sophisticated with either color scheme, though you could do a mix of black and white. I'd recommend starting with a bedding scheme and using the colors based off that for your bedroom. PBTeen has great basic bedding, though it's on the pricey side. Hope I helped!

My boyfriend's brother painted his furniture black and then threw white paint drops on them. It was kind of unique and cool. I would paint the dress black and go for either white or black walls. Maybe a cheap rug (stores will have sales for dorm rooms soon) to change the floor color?

I have a cobalt blue room with a black comforter, which would totally go with your rock posters while still having a bit of uniqueness to it
