Singing. - August 4th 2010, 10:05 PM

Hmm, I find this odd. I met a whole bunch of new people this summer, and they all have decent singing voices. Like, to the majority of my friends, they can sing with no struggle or anything like that. I'm quite jealous xD

Is there any way that I can improve my voice...? Singing actually has been something I've longed I could be good at since I was little. It would be maaagical if I could someday be good enough to sing in a musical :P That's like, my dream~ <3

Any advice would be wonderful!

Check a local music store for lessons. Maybe you can listen to a recording of a piano, or find a small online one and try to match that pitch and help you get a better voice.

Practice is #1 when it comes to improving just about anything. Do you remember the chromatic scale? If you practice with the scales you should get better and learn more.
Practicing with a piano or keyboard works wonders. As a bonus you would also learn how to play while you work on your voice. I think it is more effective to do that than listening to a song and sing it word for word, pitch and key.

You could find an instructor but why waste money when you can do it yourself.
All you need is time, patience, and discipline. Good luck!

Join a choir! I had to join the university choir as part of my music degree, and before I started my voice felt strained whenever I sang. But at the end of the year I discovered I could sing higher and for longer, because I'd been using my voice more often.

Hey there, I'm no professional but I've had lessons and I am an entertainer.

What I have learnt over the last few years is breathing techniques.

I can't really describe them properly without doing it in person so I've found a few videos that explain and show you.

Theres the lip trills, v's and z's.

You don't have to do her strange movements though lol

This one is really fast but if you do your ahhs through the notes, and breathe when your singing you wont get out of breathe.

Well for starters maybe you could look up mini vocal lessons on youtube, I'd LIKE to think I'm somewhat decent at singing and I still youtube lol it's a great place to learn from all sorts of people, you could join your school choir and maybe pick up a singing book or two at your local book store and look for someone who will be willing to give you lessons or if you live it a big town/city go to a music store and ask how much it is. Good Luck
