well, i taught myself to play my first instrument (acoustic guitar) because i've just always loved music. and the electric guitar just offered me more songs to play.

i taught myself to play bass because my stepdad plays bass and i'd never really heard the sound before, but i loved it.

and i taught myself to play banjo because they are fucking awesome and easy to play

I only sing, but I count that as an instrument that I always have with me.

When I was in second grade, my elementary school music teacher sent me home with a letter to my parents, telling them of a children's choir she wanted me to try for. The next year, I got involved with my Church's children's choir. At the end of third grade, I convinced my parents to let me try for Columbus Children's Choir. I love singing, it's my entire life.

I played violin for 4 years, I can't really remember why I wanted to, but I suspect it was because all my friends had picked up the flute and I wanted to do something different.

The first time I came across a fully functioning keyboard I just sort of fell in love with it I was mesmerised by it and was sat at it for hours, my mum had to drag me away from it. I took up keyboard at that point, and still play.

I'm not sure why I started piano as well, it just complemented keyboard nicely (in my mind, anyway)

When I was a little girl, I remembered watching the lady at church play flute in the choir. Every week, I looked forward to going to church, especially to listen to her play. The played with SUCH grace and elegance, and I wanted that to be me too. I loved the sound of the flute from the time I was about 5 years old, and determined that that was the instrument I just -had- to play. In 5th grade, I started playing in band at school, and my mom told me that if I was really serious, I could start taking lessons. Come to find out, that same lady I had been watching for close to 5 years was doing private lessons. I've been playing ever since.

My dad has played French horn since he was in high school. I was just sort of raised with it, and when I was little I remember asking him over and over if I could play his horn, and sometimes he'd let me. When I was little I wanted to be just like him, but by the end of middle school I didn't like it anymore.
Then I joined marching band, and I had to play a flugelhorn because we had no marching French horns or anything like that, and since then I've grown to appreciate my horn more. xD Well, I actually love both of them. Very fun.

Well after I learned it I moved onto better things, but I remember sitting there during my first year of lessons, plunking away at some simple little tune, and being so impatient x3

Hahahahaha, I started guitar because I had always been a fan of George Harrison and Jimmy Page. I started off at the age of 11 with an electric then accoustic. Today, I play a lot of punk.

My parents always wanted me to play piano. They started me off when I was 8, but I hated it. I rebeled as much as I could. I took lessons again when I was 13, however, I have learned to play mainly by ear. I have a synth in my room, and I am pretty awesome at it.

And then I play marimba/bass drum in my school's marching band.

acoustic guitar - because i am already a lyricist and i have no way to put music to my songs so i am teaching myself guitar for that but what i REALLY wanna do is play bass

Well, I was always very fascinated by musicians when I was younger. I then decided to join my schools band. I play alto sax. I continue to play alto sax because I have a deep love for music. I'm a music major. I'm ADHD (attention deffecit hyperactive disorder), so music was a great way to channel my energy.

I heard the flute at concerts and on tv and fell in love with the sound. Then because I want to be a music teacher it was suggested that I learn piano, which im still doing coz I like it

I got into singing because I was literally forced into the school choir in year 7 and not allowed to leave..ever!
