2000 vs 2010 - December 27th 2010, 07:19 PM

A wise man once said, "Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when we look back everything's different?" And it's so true. I've almost been alive for two decades, and with each passing day nothing seems to change, but when I look back on the last decade I've changed so much.

Here's a thread you can compare yourself in 2000 to you now in 2010.

December 2000:
  • I was eight, going on nine.
  • I was not addicted to the internet.
  • I was in third grade.
  • I had a one-year-old sister.
  • I only had one dog and two cats.
  • My grandmother and both of my step-grandfathers were still alive.
  • I loved Britney Spears and hated Pink.
  • I hated Country and the 70s and 80s.
  • My favorite television shows were Full House and Arthur.
  • I hadn't read and become addicted to Harry Potter yet.
  • I can't even begin to fathom what I did with all my time. I spent most of my time playing outside, watching TV, playing with Barbies, and reading.
  • I had just begun writing.
  • Only wrote original stories.
December 2010:
  • I'm eighteen, going on nineteen.
  • I am an internet addict, though it's toned down a lot from where it was at one point.
  • I'm a freshman in college.
  • I have an eleven-year-old sister.
  • I have two dogs, two cats, and a cockatiel, and I only get to see them when I come home from college.
  • I have one grandmother left on this Earth, and she's ninety-one, I also have a step-grandmother who's getting up there.
  • I love Pink. Britney's okay, but she's definitely not my favorite.
  • I prefer Country, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s to most current Pop.
  • My favorite television shows are Law & Order: SVU, 7th Heaven, and Medium.
  • I love Harry Potter, and I've been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
  • I spend most of my time online and writing.
  • Addicted to fan fiction.
  • Instead of playing Barbies, I've gone through my "Sims" phase, and I still play The Sims 2 or 3 when I get the urge. They've become my virtual dollhouses.
How does your lifestyle compare now to 2000?

Re: 2000 vs 2010 - December 27th 2010, 10:58 PM

December 2000
I had just turned ten.
My brother was six, not sixteen.
I had one best friend.
I fancied a boy in my class called Nick.
I thought I'd only ever be attracted to boys for the whole of my life.
I though that by the time I was sixteen I would have life completely figured out.
Sex was something I didn't think I would find appealing for decades.
And blowjobs.....I would NEVER do anything like that in my life.
I thought I was going to be a primary school teacher, and a writer.
My favourite band was S Club 7, and I tried to pretend I didn't like Blue.
I was a straight A student.
I didn't plan to drink until I was over eighteen and drugs?? NEVER in my life.

December 2010.
I've just turned twenty.
My baby brother is halfway through his teens :')
I have lots and lots of good friends...but somehow no one to talk to.
I'm in my second long term relationship.
Girls = yum.
I've hit my twenties and things have suddenly turned upside down lifewise.
Sex = yum.
And blowjobs..?? Fun.
In the last few months I've realised primary school teaching might not be for me.
I miss S Club 7 (:
I'm a B student when I do the work.
Caved to the drink halfway between then and now. And a spliff is the occasional recreational activity.

December 2000:
~I was six years old
~I was an only child
~I lived in a different part of New England.
~I attended Catholic School
~I had a dog and a hamster
~I wore dresses every day.

December 2010:
~I am 16 years old
~I have a younger sister
~I go to an Agricultural High School
~I have no idea how I feel about the religion I've been practicing my entire life.
~I have a dog, 2 cats, a rabbit, a frog, and several fish.
~I tend to dress more for comfort than style.

Re: 2000 vs 2010 - December 28th 2010, 02:00 AM

December 2000!

  • Fifteen, going on Sixteen.
  • Lived on the western part of the northeastern part of the megalopolis stretching from Bean town to the Capital City.
  • I would never ever to have thought to listen to country. Blow my brains out with a pistol, mkthx.
  • Never encountered anyone who was SH'ing themselves.
  • When I did, I thought they were idiots for SH or thinking of suicide.
  • Homosexuality? Send them to Dante's Inferno!
  • I shipped Harry and Hermione.
  • Didn't have any online friendships yet.
  • Didn't watch much of TV.
  • Hated homework! But loved Renaissance history. ^_^
  • Had an easier time writing originals.
  • Still in school.

December 2010

  • 25, going on 26.
  • Lives in the south-eastern part of the northeastern part of the Boston-DC megalopolis. Miss my hometown!
  • I love country thanks to Carrie Underwood! Of course, I only listen to the likes of hers.
  • I have encountered people who have SH'ed themselves. Was even friends with one until I totally f**ked it up.
  • I think there are way better alternates than suicide, but no longer do I think they're idiots.
  • I don't care if people are homosexual, I know some that are now that we're all adults.
  • I ship Ron and Hermione. Harry and Hermione is 1nc3$tu0u$!!!!
  • Have had online friendships, tons upon tons of them in the past five (going on six) years.
  • TV is lifee, but unfortunately 98% of the stuff clogging the airwaves are crap.
  • Miss homework, so badly! Can't wait for the 24th of January!
  • Have an easier time writing fanfiction than originals. But that shall change in 2011.
  • Haven't been in school for five years.
