The Official Bedroom Thread! - February 11th 2011, 07:41 AM

Okay, so I know there's been half a million threads like this. But I thought it would be a good idea to kind of get all our ideas together in one spot. So, how do you decorate your room and make it yours?

I'm currently in the process of redecorating my room, but I've got a few ideas of what I'm gonna do.

In my window, I'm gonna line up some colored glass bottles so when the sunlight comes through it makes a nice stained glass effect.

I'm going to buy a bunch of blank CD's and string them up so it's like a mobile thing. I also thought that I would take a full deck of tarot cards and glue them onto a piece of poster board to make a really cool piece of art.

Hmm...what else...oh, I'm gonna buy a white headboard and string white fairy lights through it. The top shelf of my desk is where I keep my shoes, so it's almost like they're on display. I'm all about functional fashion.

I love candles and incense, so I always got some of that goin on. I have my Abbey Road poster right above my bed, and I'm going to buy a white canopy and pin it so there's a side of the canopy on either side of it...if that makes sense.

To organize my makeup, I use a desk organizer (I'm looking for a better method, as this looks too messy for my tastes.) Oh, and I put all my vitamins and such into pretty glass bottles and crowd them together on top of a medium-sized mirror on my dresser.

Whew. Okay, what does everyone else do?

"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it.
I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote,
“Dear Jim: I loved your card.”
Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.”
That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything.
He saw it, he loved it, he ate it."

At home I had really plain coloured walls, like sandy ... On my chimney breat I stuck magazine cutting / memories like cinema tickets etc. I had a big heart mobile with bells hung in the middle. In front of the fire (which doesn't work) I had a tall mirror. I had candles and incense on the mantle. Behind my desk I had a wall of family pictures from when I was young and my grandparents etc, and pictuers of places I've been. By my bed I had a big picture mural of all my friends. On the opposite wall I had a load of PostSecrets that meant something to me.
My deck chair had blue leaf fairy lights wound round it.
I had cushions on the floor and heaps on my bed to be comfy ...
I've just moved so I've got all my pictures etc to redecorate my new room. Can't wait to get there!!!

I'm in the middle of redecorating. My room used to be bright red with one wall that had been painted white, decorated with Sharpie, and then painted over red again. It was also very cluttered. I painted it yesterday this lovely grey color called Sterling. I have shimmery lavender sheets and a white comforter and zebra curtains. There isn't a lot on my walls right now and I'm hoping to keep it like that. I may add one or two more small wall pieces but I'm not sure. I'm working on clearing out a lot of the clutter to get a very mature space.

I don't have an actual bedroom anymore but in my dorm I have a loft bed, with a warm color squared comforter and on the wall around it I have warm colored flower stickers with glittery butterfly stickers and a motel sign stick
In my desk area I have my schedules for classes (what assignemnts are due when), a signed post secret thing, my first lotto ticket, profanity bandaids, my name tag from orientation, and some pictures surrounding my senior panoramic and a zombie calendar. I have another area with a dry erase calender with little dry erase things for each day of the week. On my mini fridge I have pictures I painted and we have some chalk board wall stickers near the sink.

"'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.'
I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish.
'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.'
'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said.
'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'"

I have a messy desk with dead bottles that used to contain alcohol on O.o and things always blocking the TV...
I have a large sheet of paper on one wall which everybody who stays in there for a while has to draw some stick Jedi have a fight on =p Though one friend just drew stick men have a literal cock fight x.x

My bedroom isn't really a "my bedroom" it's an "our bedroom" because I share it with my boyfriend.

His mom bought us a very nice tempurapedic (sp?) bed, it's so wonderful. We have mostly gold/green bedding with intricate detailing and a TON of pillows. Art all over the walls, a painting of mine above our bed, a bathroom attached to the sink area which is attached to the bedroom, and a very large closet that is consumed with my clothing, haha.

We have picture frames and what not on our dresser drawers, a book self. And my boyfriends two pets in our room -a small snake and a Mexican Red-knee tarantula.

His working area takes up one whole wall, his computer, mini fridge, and printing area. And my dresser drawer/clothing take up the majority of the other half of the wall.
Next to our bed we have a cute little stand with a lamp that I bought when Aaron and I first met, yup that's our room.

It's harmony in chaos. I love it.

Wow, that sounds really good!

As for me, my bedroom is pretty plain, but if I had the opportunity to decorate it, I would paint the walls some kind of red color (not too bright!), I'd have some soccer things up, and I'd have a neat desk with a laptop. You know, a good college bedroom for a teenager :P.

Well, in my dorm room, the bedroom theme is all about bright colors. The sheets on my bed are a lavendar color and the comfortor is kind of a Hawaiian flower theme with orange, green, purple, pink, and blue in it (all brighter shades). My curtains are blue and white (kind of a fade out effect). I can't really hang things on the walls though.

In my bedroom at home, my walls are painted a lilac purple with a blue trim. The curtains on the walls are lime green, and because I hate closet doors, I have curtains over the doors as well which are blue with green swirls. The comforter brings all the colors together in a cool geometric pattern. I LOVE lights, so I have this awesome silver disc light where the lights reflect off of it. Now, the only thing we need to get fixed up is the carpeting which is older than I am!

Um, to make the rooms my own, I tried to put my personality into what I picked for the "typical" decorations. I also have lots of shelves, one which has nothing but picture frames on it, and the other shelves have angels and other knick knacks that are important to me.
I also have a collection of crosses all around the room - Daddy calls my bedroom a religious shrine. xD Most of the crosses are colorful or have some sort of saying that's important to me. I LOVE my bedroom. I'm just sad I'm moving out soon!
