Explore recycling art
Keep a journal picking a topic daily or weekly.
Pick a food or recipe once a week and prepare for family.

Do a photo journal if a digital camera is available for you to use, start a photo file to download to if permissible.

Learn to do hand stiching (using fabric or clothing that needs a hem or a button.

volunteer, local hospital, those with diablities etc...

What about reading, playing sports, or doing something else that you enjoy?

I'm usually reading, hanging out with friends, or playing some kind of sport when I'm not at work.

You could always go to a nature reserve take a pair of binoculars and watch wildlife I often find this quite relaxing and calming to do, or you could go for a day to a beach or a theme park or take up a sport such as bike riding. or you could plan a garden party and invite all your friends over and have a garden party and suggest your friends all bring some food to cook on the BBQ and a bottle of their favourite drink.

You might enjoy bike riding or going for a walk. Listen to some new music or hang out with friends. If you enjoy sports you could go out and play them. The possibilities are endless.

I use the summer to play frisbee, bicycle, sail and go on long walks.

Basically, anything to be active, because the more active you are, the happier you'll feel.

Re: hobbies during boring summer? - June 1st 2011, 06:34 AM

I'm taking summer classes, so I'm not too bored. But this summer, I am spending time exploring some new hobbies.

So, what do you do if you want to find new hobbies? You said you read a lot: have you found any activity in those books that you find interesting? I read many fantasy stories set in medieval times, and they do a lot of fighting with swords. Reading about it so much made me very interested in it, so this summer I'm taking up fencing. Of course, reading about things isn't the only way to find something interesting to you - we all have our interests, maybe you can find something that relates to what you like. For example, if you like bugs, you can go out there and catch them...or if you're like me, you can run away screaming from them. Teach yourself how to do something useful - like how to cook, a simple example but my mind is blanking on other things for some reason.

When you're bored and feeling blue
Try and learn of something new.

I was told this once a long time ago. Everyone can fill several encyclopedias with what they don't know - try and cut down on yours a bit I take it to heart. Hopefully you'll be able to find something that works for you!

Perhaps take up a new craft. There's so many different crafts out there I'm sure you can find one that you're good at that suits you.

Here's some off the top of my head
- Jewellery making
- Scrapbooking
- Cardmaking
- Pottery
- Cross stitch
- Beading
- Origami

There's a lot more as well if you just search the internet

You could join a voluntary organization like the Red Cross. You learn new valuable skills and get to help people. Plus you also get to go to places free.

How about volunteer, try to make new friends, go to museums, find productive things to do with your friends(I live near new orleans so my friends and I go look at some of the sights) stuff like that, art is always fun... Watch movies that you haven't watched.

Pick a sport you;ve always wanted to learn and have someone help you with it, youtube it, whatever. Get really good at it. Make it your goal to be kickass in this sport by next year. Or maybe take up running. Make a certain mile time or distance your goal, etc. etc. Go to the park, the pool, the carnival...just get together with friends and have fun.

usually for me during the summers i do either tasteful street art or urban exploration, but in cases are highly illegal soo i dont suggest doing them unless you want to get in big trouble

but for safe legal suggestions maybe do some jogging, or go to movies lets say once a week. or hang with friends.

Re: hobbies during boring summer? - June 12th 2011, 01:38 PM

This summer I am working, doing volunteer work, swimming and playing softball. My local gym is running a softball club for 8 weeks over the summer for free so I joined that. Have a look around and see why local clubs there are you could join or look for volunteer work. Volunteer work is usually more fun than work as it is relaxed and something you choose to do.
I plan to swim twice a week and ride my exercise bike regularly to try to get fitter as I have time to dedicate to it.

I'm going to spend the rest of the time sleeping, reading, catching up on films I have been meaning to see, going to the cinema and bowling with friends and just having fun really.
