Anyone else hate parties? - October 6th 2011, 02:07 PM

Not talking birthday parties, going to bars, chillin' with friends and acquaintances, dinner parties -- I mean like...parties. The frathouse kind, the massive, loud, obnoxious house party, etc. Shitty music and shitty alcohol (and shitty people )

People hanging out in the same boring circles of friends they already know, not socializing in the intellectual, friendly, or even romantic sense, just talking about sex, drugs and drinking (not that there's anything wrong with any of those things in moderation )

I hate not being able to talk to people without screaming, usually hate the music, and the bro's, guidos, and sluts get on my nerves as well. Not to mention the groups of people who really aren't there to meet new people to begin with. Who's with me?

I'm with you. I hate parties and I refuse to go to them. They're just not appealing to me because of the loudness, the ignorant people, the drinking, the drugs, the sex, just... everything. People think I'm weird b/c I won't attend parties but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Hmm i cant decide sometimes its fun but i do get what you mean.

You cant dance cuz its basically a mass stuck to each other jumping
You cant talk cuz the music is so loud its mo efficient using hand signs
Additionally parties at bars makes you wait ofr a drink u didnt order for 30 mins and leaving you broke for the night.

But sometimes crashing at a party already drunk is the times you create stories of epic proportions

I dont really like parties either. Yes, I like going out for dinner and few drinks, and small/medium sized cozy, on the sofa, in front of the fire get-togethers in peoples houses.

But I dont like big, mad, sweaty bodies, loud loud music, people vomiting, talking rubbish, drinking just for the hell of it, drugs, kinds of parties....not that I've really been to any. But I just know it wouldnt be my thing.

I'd take a night out in town whether it be at the pub or the club or a few friends hanging out, some drinks, quiet music in the background over a house party any day.

I mean, I guess a pub and a club will most likely have loud music, some of which I'd find crap but at least there will be good company and you know that you're in a big enough place to get away from any of the people who feel the need to drink too much or par take in a bit too much PDA.

I don't really like them, its too many people I don't know and I tend to get nervous. However if I know a good number of people there then I am okay and usually end up having fun

Great, so I'm not alone lol. I really think it depends on the setting, the music, etc. Concerts are awesome IMO, because you (meaning me) actually have something to focus on -- the music, which you hopefully like . Dances, if formal, or large dinner events can be cool too. And a massive smoke-out/rave in the woods would be tight. Just not the whole mass-of-bodies thing. Ugh.

Yeah I don't like them. I'm not in to doing any of those things so it doesn't appeal to me.

Re: Anyone else hate parties? - October 8th 2011, 03:02 AM

I do enjoy those kinds of parties because it's not about meeting new people and shaking hands, getting to know who likes what TV show, etc... . It's mostly about drinking, possibly making out or even having sex, and doing your own thing without worrying about what others say because chances are their too occupied and intoxicated to notice or care. That said, I don't go to them all the time because on campus, the parties are quite often in conflict with studying for an up-coming test or something else important.

I admit, the music isn't always my favourite but I'm willing to compensate. My only concern is when the music is far too loud. At our senior Halloween party, the school decided to be a cheap-ass and give students the opportunity to be the DJ, although most of them were air-heads and didn't know how to operate the controls. The bass was overkill and the volume was so loud, everyone left because our ears were throbbing in pain. Those who were amongst the last to leave the room were in tears from the pain. I was in the middle of the room, so I wasn't the last nor first to leave. Later, the staff told us the air-head students fixed the volume (which they did), however, shortly afterward, they cocked it up again and my ears were throbbing even more and I couldn't hear at all for a brief moment.

So for me, the concern is loudness of the music and everyone else. If it's too loud, fuck it, I'm not going. If it isn't too loud, then I'll consider the genre/quality of the music, the party area and make my decision to enter or exit.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

I hate parties, To be honest I'm the sort of person that would rather go see a play at the theatre or go to a Museum rather than go to a party. I've never liked parties, Sure I do occasionally and very rarely go to parties but its not often. Usually if my parents have a party or my sisters do I will be hiding away in my room.

BROKE
the girl who seemed strong
CRUMBLED
the girl who always laughed
CRIED
the girl who never stopped trying finally
GAVE UP

she let her fake smile fade and as she did a tear rolled down her cheek and she whispered

' i can't do this anymore'

Personally I think they're great as long as they stay in control. It's a good way to socialize, gives you something to do and you can make new friends and talk to people you don't normally. Plus the confidence boost is amazingggg!
Then again, the way you talk about them sounds not very fun so I guess it's just the difference in our experiences... But the ones I've been to have been great, and I have people I still talk to from them

I used to be like this but I've come to like them now a lot. Guess its different for different people, but I can definitely see what you're getting at.

I don't mind them once in a while, but I definitely get sick of them weekend after weekend.
