Immaturity - January 2nd 2012, 11:24 AM

What do you think of when you see/hear the words "immature person"?

I'd think of someone who doesn't act their age, won't take some situations seriously and sees everything as a joke/funny.

Someone who acts and gets on like a child, someone who never takes anything seriously and thinks absolutely everything, no matter what it is, is hilarious. Someone who doesnt have respect for others or their feelings also.

I laugh at many things, even if I don't think it's funny.
(Unless it's like death or disaster, something like that)
I sometimes can't control it and it really bothers me.
As for acting my age, that's pretty easy for me.
I just don't like the fact that I can't help laughing :|

Hah. Nah don't worry, I don't see immaturity as someone who see's everything as a joke. That just means they have a playful attitude. Finding humor in something that's serious is almost a talent, hell, that's what comedians are paid to do.

To me, immaturity is like someone who has a dumb and predictable personality, if that makes any sense. Like the way I look back on myself when I was 10, and think "Ooh, what an idiot I was, what was I thinking?", is the same way I look at someone else for being "immature" and just think "wow, do they think before they speak?". Hopefully that made sense, haha.

Immature person makes me think of myself. Even though i dont act my age sometimes, i somehow make everyone feel better which is good. And i always start laughing too. At everything.

To me, it's someone who doesn't act their age when it is necessary to act their age. It's fine to act like a kid in some situations -- I've been known to do it once or twice. But, if it's a situation that requires someone to be serious and act mature and they try to make it a joke, that's immature.

Not acting your age, and most importantly not having the maturity to treat things, see things, and experience things on a serious, and 'interested' level.

not acting appropiatley when you should be. especially in regaurds to your age. some things you can't expect a 10 year old to be mature about, while someone a few years older should be able to handle the situation maturley.

Re: Immaturity - January 12th 2012, 02:35 PM

I'd consider someone immature if they made jokes all the time that were inappropriate, or if they acted like a kid when you were talking about something serious. Joking and laughing all the time is good, it means you're happy, or you're fun to be around. But sometimes you need to stop and listen and act seriously, and if someone doesn't do that then I'd consider them immature.

Re: Immaturity - January 12th 2012, 05:07 PM

Someone who does not adapt to their surroundings. It's okay not to act your age, when your around a bunch of younger people, or if your in a playful situation. On the other hand, when around people your age, or elders, you act more mature, You take things seriously, just as they do. Sometimes Immaturity leads to irresponsibility, and not enough care, which can ruin ones life.

I think of someone who is loud, energetic, and obnoxious. Someone who doesn't seem to care what the situation is or what their surroundings are, they only have one goal in mind and that is to entertain themselves.

Someone who will throw tantrums and have a hissy fit when they don't get their way, who get angry at petty little things and can't control themselves. I could say someone with a bad temper or someone who wants everything to go their way, but there's a line between immaturity and selfishness and anger problems, but I suppose those could go along with the immaturity.

Someone who doesn't act their age and does childish things. Some childish things are okay, though because it's fun to be like a child every now and then. (:
