Unhappy Who else misses their childhood? - January 14th 2012, 07:57 AM

By childhood I mean up until around 12. I found some photos of me and my family from years ago when we used to go on holiday to Apollo Bay, a beach town in the state of Victoria, Australia. All the memories came back, and I couldn't help crying because I realised how much I missed it. How we would always stay in the same house known as "Windover", how I would go down to the pier with my uncle and watch the waves hit the rocks, and how my mum and I would walk up to the top of the small mountain and look at the ocean.

Also, do you think if I went back there now, it would ruin those memories and make me regret going back there, or if I would actually be happy about having gone back there?

My childhood was a nightmare so I don't want to go back.

But I think that going back to the place you had your most happy memories would be a good thing I don't see how it could ruin previous memories. <3

My childhood was iffy. Parts of it was terrible, other parts were really fun and great, and I can't believe I took what I had for granted for so long. So I chose a little

I want to live my childhood again. This time I swear I'll know how to be a normal kid. I just want to experience what its like to be a kid once!

I do miss my childhood because even though I did put a tremendous amount of pressure on myself, it's nowhere near as bad as it is today. I had a lot of fun and there was recess and things that I didn't struggle with doing as much, and most things were better then. Would I go back to that? Maybe, but I do need to grow up sometime.

I kind of miss my childhood, things were definitely better back then but I think i'd rather go forward a couple years than back.

I always think of memories from way back when and it always makes me sad. I'd do anything to just have one day to live back then.

So much! Those days where homework was only five minutes long, and everybody was so happy. Nobody was stressed or worried about relationships/school/work/responsibilities simply because we didn't have to worry about those things! Everyday was: sit in a class, recess, lunch, and home time where we would always have our parents waiting for us outside.. Nobody would talk behind backs; there wasn't even any problems... all we did was play grounders, tag, and soccer.... man THOSE were the days. If I could just have one of those days back, I'd definitely live it to the fullest.

Wow! I never really thought about it. I'm not that far out of my childhood, and I'm just realizing recently that "grown up" stuff is creeping into my day to day life. Like school, I always loved school, both going to be with friends and learning new stuff. But just like you said, the teenage drama makes school way more complicated. For me its kinda like when I was younger I knew where I stood with people. Now I start to wonder and that bugs me.

I'm still having a lot of fun with my family and friends, but there's definitely more pressure, from outside and inside. Not having to give a shit... that's what I miss.

Great thread!!

I definitely miss my childhood. I often go into nostalgia mode late at night and listen to Hanson, Disney movie soundtracks, watch episodes of old 90's TV shows, etc.

I also miss the days where the most difficult decision I ever had to make was what crayon to use next while coloring.
There are definitely some things I don't miss, but there are quite a few things that I do.

However... There are also a lot of things I'm looking forward to about the future, like getting married and having my own babies and watching them love their own childhood. Despite the responsibilities that come with adulthood, there are also tons of adventures ahead, so... While I do miss my childhood, it's time for me to look forward instead of back.

A little. I think a lot of people glorify their childhood in their minds. Obviously I like the idea of going back to the time when things were simple and I didn't have to worry about money or my immediate future or big adulty decisions, but at the same time I'm pretty sure it wasn't as good as I remember. I never got a lot of freedrom from my strictish parents and when I was eleven puberty and depression kicked in which were a nightmare. I know that i spent a lot of my childhood not being able to wait til I was older. I definitely rpefer being 21.

I don't think it would wreck it if you went back there, as long as you reminded yourself that it wouldn't be the same, and not to expect that.

I would go back for the late eighties and early ninties. Those were good days, good music and good television. Games were simpler compared to games of today, and the internet was very limited.

I'd go back to relive some parts, like all the holidays my family took, the birthday parties I had and went to, and to have the same favorite teachers. But I would not go back for classmates, they were awful. Especially towards the preteen years, when they were experiencing things I've nowhere near experienced yet, and I was left ostracsized.

But it doesn't help to remain two decades in the past, a whole lifetime ago for most of y'all, so you can only imagine! It's best to look forward into the future and what lays beyond for you.

I miss a lot of my childhood. The only reason I would not wan`t to go back now is because my life is finally starting to look up a little and I have the most wonderful fiance. But when I was a kid everything was so simple and people got along and didn`t fight and as far as my family goes it was a happier time.

I miss how everything was so much easier. I miss the naivety of childhood, how I was blind to all evil and disaster in the world. It would be nice to relive some of my childhood, but I look forward to having children of my own one day and helping to create wonderful childhood memories for them

It's nice to be old, and good God I would never return to a time when I was even more helpless than I currently am. Lord no.

However I will admit that I have at times wept about how simple life was, and how somehow I was sheltered from all the negativity that encircles my family at times.

It seemed in those times everyday was a "good day" for my mother. Now it feels that "good days" and 50/50 with "bad days". I miss when good days was common, but I apreciate being able to do something about the "bad days".

At times I really miss my childhood. And those times fall under when it's time to pay my bills, when I have to grocery shop, when I have to pay to fix my car or put gas in it, etc. I miss having those things taken care of for me. I miss not having to worry about money and having to budget. So yeah. But I also like being on my own and doing what I want when I want. I'm not a crazy partier or rule breaker, but it's nice to know that I can do those things if I so choose. So really, it's a give/take sort of thing.

I miss my childhood. I'm scared of growing up, it's terrifying. Everything was happier and simpler when I was a child.

I like going back to places where I have nice memories. If you want to, go. I don't see why it would spoil it, so long as you remember that the memories are in the past and nothing that's happened since can change them.

I miss my old house most of all and my horse Desert Rose-All. There are huge parts of it that I don't miss but I'm still what you might call a child even though I'm a teenager, so I have time to make it worth missing :P
