Opinions on STRIPPERS!
I'm not really sure what category to put this under, but me and my friends were talking a few nights ago and somthing came up about stripping. I was saying that I would do it because it would be a fun expeirence to try, but all my friends were like "strippers only make their job look fun, but in reality they get no respect from men or woman because they don't respect themselves". In my opinion I understand that alot of strippers have different reasons to do what they do, so I don't really jugde them right off the bat like everyone else. I was wondering what everyone else had to say about strippers because I am planning to at the very least try it out, but havn't decided yet I think it may be scarey the first like few nights until you get used to it, then it could be fun. Then again i'm just kinda leaning towards the idea i'm not all for it yet.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
Some people do it because they find it to be amazingly fun, others do it as a means to an end. It's the same as any job, some people enjoy it some people hate it, but in the end though if you don't enjoy you can stop doing it.

Also, the whole 'they get no respect' bollocks is stupid.

What about Burlesque? That's classy at least.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
I'm not sure they have the best job conditions though.
Where I live it's a big debate because the stippers are being spyed on, listened to and stalked by their employers, they get threathened etc. It's difficult getting out of the buisness.

Also, the respect thing, I disagree with the above poster. I don't think they are being respected. I think it's a bigger chance of a stripper being beaten, sexually harassed or raped because maybe people view them as sex objects.

It's what I've heard/seen on the news etc. Like I said, it's a stripperdebate here atm.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
Being a bouncer is where it's at! Personally I find the idea of strippers disgusting, an the people who go to watch them even sicker. I hold prostitutes in a higher tier, at least the customer gets a physical pleasure. Nonetheless, I want I be a bouncer wrote I ship to boot camp next year! XD

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
Thanks for all your responses hopefully I can get more people to give their opinois. I was kinda looking at Tila Tequila's life as a stripper, and that's where I never really thought it was all that bad.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
Really it depends on what you want to do. Some people do it for fun or to make ends meet. Usually at strip clubs they have rules for the people who come to visit the strip club. They usually can't touch you or ask you for your name or number.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
I would never do it, because I feel my body should be saved for my boyfriend, and no one else. I would feel demeaned and dehumanized if I were to strip in front of a crowd of people. It wouldn't matter how much money I was paid to do it, or how good the working conditions were.

As others have said, I think it's going to depend on the person's mindset and the particular establishment. I'm sure someone like you would find more pleasure out of being a stripper than a single mother who feels she doesn't have any other options available to her. I'm sure you would feel safer on the whole if you worked at a high-end strip club, vs. some sleazy place with a minimal amount of security.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
If you do it, then you'll certainly have some people think you're sleazy while others hold other views. I imagine strippers do it mostly for the money and partially for fun. Most places have rules stating customers cant grope you or anything but you will be their eye candy, something bouncers cant protect you from because well, it's the center of your job. If you could handle stripping in front of random strangers, having them touch you briefly when giving tips (keep in mind you won't exactly have a wallet for them to put the money into), and you're considered good looking, then have fun.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
Hey there,
To be completely honest, I don't really have a problem with strippers. I see them as on a lower tier on the "totem pole" or whatever you wanna call it, but, I really don't have a problem with them.
If you want to try it, I would encourage you to try something in a more "classy" enviroment, since you would probably have a lower chance of being raped, killed, etc.
I think strippers have they're own personal reasons for stripping. Whether it be for ends to meet, the only job they can get, or for personal satisfaction. I, personally, would never be a stripper. For 2 reasons, 1: I would be too ashamed, because of self-esteem issues, and 2: Because of the risk of being raped, etc.

But, I encourage you to explore something your interested in. :)
Hope I helped!

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
My biggest concern is to think ahead. When you are a teacher, respected policewoman, or housewife do you want possible pictures of yourself on the web?

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
I'm really in no position to judge strippers for what they do. Do I have less respect for someone who's doing it just to spite their parents, or to avoid using their brain? Yes. Do I have less respect for someone who's doing it to put themselves through college or make ends meet while looking for other options? No. And regardless of my opinion, any adult should be free to make a living as they please.

That said, I do worry about safety. Strippers and other employees in the adult industry need to be very careful that their customers never cross physical boundaries, and that can be very difficult to do in some environments. That's my only serious concern.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
I've watched some documentaries on porn stars, and I've noticed that the porn stars who are more successful are the ones who act like porn stars in reality. The people who go into porn only wanting a large paycheck and the experience of doing it, with my personal observation, are more likely to not last in the business. I believe it's the same with stripping.

I don't think there's anything wrong with strippers. There's men/women strippers who enjoy doing what they do and look at it as any other profession, and there's nothing wrong with someone finding something they enjoy and making money from it. Same goes for prostitution. It is a very profitable business and people can potentially make tons of money on a per night basis. Not only is it profitable, but the job security is pretty good because as long as you're good at what you do and have the body that people want to gaze upon, sex will always sell and therefore you have job opportunities.

If you're not interested in stripping becoming your lifestyle, I don't think you'll make it that far. A couple nights might be fun, but after that point...it all goes downhill from there.

Re: Opinions on STRIPPERS!
This is a tricky topic.

I'm against it for myself because I don't have the self esteem to do that. I'm also not the type to do that.
However, as a concept. I think stripping to make money, self expression, fun is probably okay.
But there is a stigma attached to stripping. People don't respect strippers because they think they're slut or whores. They don't think that selling your body is an okay way to make money.

And I guess I can agree IF said stripper is parading their body on facebook, or around town. Stripping is still a job, and is meant to still be professional as much as possible. When it's time for work, it's time for work. When you clock out, then clock out. People CHOOSE to go to strip clubs. People don't choose to see them on the streets.

But I actually have a lot of respect for strippers. It's a dangerous job, obviously. And they're showing off something very personal in front of a lot of people.

They're performers. Just a different kind of performance. I might even go as far to say that they're artists (It depends on how you look at it). Like I said, form of self expression.
