Babysitting--advertising on kijiji - June 21st 2013, 02:35 PM

I want to find people to babysit for. I desperately need a job and I like working with kids/used to babysit so what evs right....

Because I am a student, I need to find somewhere that I can even get into contact with families, it's hard to find people who have kids needing babysitters when most of the people I am around don't have kids. So is putting an ad on kijiji safe? and if so, how do I even go about that?

Are there shops with noticeboard locally?

I searched for reviews...and. Well. Read yourself.

My wife and I use kijiji all the time and have never had any problems. I use it to sell things and my wife uses it to advertise her music lessons. I have never had a bad experience with kijiji but that might just be for where I live.

Re: Babysitting--advertising on kijiji - June 23rd 2013, 07:50 PM

Hey there,

I have a lot of trouble finding places to babysit as well since a lot of the people I know don't have small children. I haven't ever heard of Kijiji, but it might help to look at some of the reviews. It's important to keep in mind that not everyone is a good person. So just try your best to be careful and maybe talk to a few people you know and ask them if they've ever advertised on Kijiji.

I also want to add if you've ever tried advertising it at your local grocery store? Where I live they have a bulletin board where people can put ads like babysitting, house cleaning and etc, so that might be something to look into as well!

I hope this helped, good luck!

Grocery store... not so much... I'd prefer trying my school and other places I work at (so that I some-what have control over the population who's accessing the info)... I work with kids a lot so those places have bulletin baords i could ask about, it's not a half bad idea (well, youth organizations are a good obvious)

Why don't you try applying to daycares, or childcare centers if you are really into working with children. It might be another option. As far as advertising, you could try craigslist for your town or city.

In my province you have to be a certified early childhood educator (ECE) to work for a day care, which means you had to go to college for it, which I did not since my ultimate goals concerning working with children is more about human rights as opposed to child care (child care is just an ok alternative)
