Workplace WaRS - July 16th 2013, 01:03 PM

I feel like it is extra hard for young people in the work place these days. I dont feel like anyone ever taught me about my rights, or even what to expect when going from highschool into the work force.

This was my first fulltime job, It started from some casual work I got in January, then in March I got offered one of the other Ladies jobs as i was told she wasnt coming back for full time work.
No contracts were signed, i was never offered one. I thought this was off but didnt say anything.
I work in child care and i love my children at work, Tantrums, terrible twos and all. My boss though, my Gosh he gave me the creeps, and made me so angry with some of the things he would do. (Taking his grandson out of the centre without telling us, moving children to different rooms to fix the ratios, or just wouldnt care about them other days)

I spoke up about about a few things, and then the next week, I was dropped from 35-38 hours a week, to 8 hours. Now in all fairness there has been alot of children dropping out, so we dont have the numbers for all our staff, but there are three staff getting all the hours, and i Get enough to pay my board to my parents..
THE THING THaT aNNOYS ME THE MOST IS ...
I planned a trip to mexico, and i was just going to get the monet working full time, now that my hours have been cut, I have two months to save $5000.
YaY!

Im not sure if this is just a rant, or a warning.

MaKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR RIGHTS IN YOUR WORKPLaCE! SO YOU DONT GET SCREWED OVER!

great advice sorry to hear that your hours have been dropped and that you have to raise funds to go away; you could try and find a part time job somewhere to help you raise more money and you could always make cut backs for things such as food and clothes.

Thats the fun part, I don't even have the money for new clothes, or any thing extra. I pay my board and put whats left into my savings...
I've been looking for work, but the joys of having a crppy economy, no one is hiring, or at least not people that don't have certain qualifications, Fun times

oh ok, that's makes it hard for you then... maybe try getting some volunteer work in the mean time as that's what employers tend to like, it would also give you something to do if you aren't busy
