Help me decide - April 28th 2009, 08:01 PM

So I'm about to sit my AS exams in Chemistry Maths Greek and Biology.

My plan from the begining of the year was to drop Greek and continue the rest for A2.

Now coming to the end of this year, I'm getting quite worried as to what I should do come next year, I'm pretty sure I wont be able to cope with doing chemistry for another year. I can barely do it this year.

There's no way I can not not drop greek as the syllabus for A2 has already started and I haven't really done any of it.

Doing 2 A-levels wouldn't really get me into a good University (would it?) and I'm pretty sure my school wouldn't let me do only 2.

So one of my questions is if doing 2 full A-levels and 3 half ones (AS) counts for anything.

Just any advice as to where I can go really.
Thanks

Hey there, Jade

Most universities I have encountered have asked for 3 A levels. I definately would not recommend you doing 4 A levels like I did, the stress was overwhelming, but I can crack under pressure sometimes so it's really about what works for you.

Personally I would play it safe and so 3 full A Levels as you don't want to get to uni level and find noone will take you because you only have AS levels.

Do you have a careers advisor on hand you could speak to? That could be useful =)

Good luck and take care,

Vicki

Hey,

I would also adivse not to drop to only 2 A levels and try and manage 3 if at all possible - that's your best bet for uni. Also, you shouldn't have to (although I don't know about your college or whatever particularly) decide yet as there's still some time. I would wait and see about your AS level points this year, and also take that into consideration because you can only get the highest grades next year if you get more points this year - it can't all be reclaimed in next years exams - and then drop the one you get the least in, as long as it's not a particular favourite of yours, because you are right you need to do what you are interested in.

Hope this helps, good luck for AS exams soon,
E xx
