Exam results - August 21st 2014, 03:46 PM

So had my big results today, did not do very well, got into sixth form (next educational level) but my mum even told me to lie to my family as they will be disappointed and I feel so stupid.

Re: Exam results - August 21st 2014, 05:44 PM

Emily,

I'm sorry to hear you didn't do as well as you might have liked. I don't know if you're aware, but the former Education Secretary actually made a number of changes, which may well have caused your grades to come down from what you might have expected based upon previous years (this applies particularly in English).
What I would say - although I'm aware that it's not very nice to have performed less well than you expected to - is that these exams are not the be-all and end-all. Even if you didn't get the grades you wanted, you've done well enough to get into sixth form, which means that your grades are going to be more than adequate in terms of getting employed in future - the other use of your grades is as stepping stones so that you can continue in education - and that's something you've achieved too.

I know exactly what the exams are like because I sat some GCSEs this year too, and I know they're difficult - don't feel "stupid" or disappointed if you can help it, because you're not stupid by any means. There's plenty I'm sure you can be working on once you get to sixth form, but for now - whatever your results were - try to actually relax and enjoy yourself a bit, because you'll undoubtedly have worked hard in the buildup to the exams, and if you can go back feeling as refreshed as possible, you'll learn at your optimum.

So - I'm sorry if your grades weren't what you were hoping for, but please try not to feel too down about them, because they're not easy by any means. Now that you've got the results, you can put them behind you and move on to get the best grades you can in the next set of qualifications you'll be sitting.

Skittlify me up...

...spreading happiness and joy around the Internet!
...well, I try, anyway. .......................
