My jobs choice - August 31st 2014, 10:37 AM

I am a really good actress. I want to be an actress and I believe that is my career choice. But everyone wants me to do something to do with science because I'm really good at that too, but the thing is, I don't like science! What do I do?

You just answered your own question.
Do what you want to do and f*ck the rest.

Because in the end, all you got is you. Right?
Don't be a feeble-minded sheep, do what you please and thrive on it.. make it a goal.

Well, I can understand that you don't like science. But a lot of people will be looking at how hard it is to be an actress and wanting you to choose something more "practical" that you are more likely to succeed at. It's not that they are they thinking you aren't good enough. I'm sure they think you are a great actress. It's just that it's a very difficult field to bust into.

If you are committed to being an actress, the best thing you can do is act. All the time. Every community play, musical or film there is you should volunteer to be in it. Audition for acting roles and even try to get back stage experience with how things are run, like volunteering to direct (or be an assistant director) or run the lights or organize costumes. If you have a well rounded experience it'll be easier for you to break in to the field.

Go into acting. You might change your mind at some point; when I was 16, I never would have thought I'd be pursuing a science career, but I am. However, you also can't pursue every single thing you're good at. Talent only gets you so far. Passion is what really moves you.

My advice is to go more practical and pursue acting on the side. I know many good actresses but none that are famous.

Sadly I have to go on the practical side. Think about how many actors you know that actually make a living acting. Then think about how many people are trained as actors or want to do it as a career.

Yes, pursue your interests, but you also need to look at career options. For example, have a look at this information. Compare that to, for example, environmental scientists.
