Obscure Jobs. - December 21st 2014, 03:02 AM

I was watching a documentary about the Holden Racing Team, Holden represented in America by what you call "Chevrolet". And it made me think. How does someone work in Pit Lane (Road)? I mean how does one even get that opportunity, even in an entry level role somewhere so obscure.

There are other people who get jobs at places like stadiums, police headquarters (in civilian roles), legal libraries, record companies, such awesome and obscure places and jobs. Where are these jobs in the midst of retail assisstants and jobs we see every day?

I would love to do one of those more obscure roles, like being an Air Spike Man, the bloke who puts an air jack into a racecar to raise it for the pits. I mean how does someone get the more obscure jobs?

I mean I'm sure it's different for everyone, but maybe some of these people just get noticed by the right people at the right time. They may be doing something and someone important takes an interest in them. Or, some of them just may be exceptionally good at what they do and gain connections that way.

I'm sure there are other reasons as well, though.
