help with learning the McDonald's menu items - January 27th 2015, 10:16 PM

I just started at McDonald's and I can barely make sense of the build sheet and I'm supposed to make the orders...can anyone help me out here?

Hey there,

I worked at Panera Bread, not McDonalds, but we too have build sheets. It really helps to try out the menu items. Really though, practicing will make you remember it all.

Do the menu items follow certain builds? For example, does it always go onions, ketchup, pickles, and cheese? You'll start to notice patterns.

As your supervisor if you can come in an hour earlier or during breakfast hours and whatever, and have unpaid training to get a better feel of how to work it.

It should become easy to you as Kat is right everything is usually done in groups on purpose.

Definitely talk with your supervisors. They should be available for training, especially if you're just started out. Starting a new job is always scary until you know what you're doing. I hope you start to feel more comfortable soon!

I would also suggest talking to your supervisor about your concerns. They should be available for training since you just started out. I'd also suggest you ask other people you work with if they have any tips or tricks about memorizing builds. Good luck!

They have people there that do nothing but train new hires, and it's one on one lol. I just can't seem to read the build sheets I get confused by them

Does McDonalds have any kind of eLearning or website for employees?

Yes, but I can only access it in the break room
