Anyone here majors in these fields? - September 7th 2015, 03:05 PM

Hello so I'm going to sign up in a university but I still can't choose between Food Technology or Biotechnology so I was wondering if anyone here majors in them? I love biology and all that and it is my passion but I'm not sure I can hold up studying complex things such as biotechnology or food technology (like I know they study biology to the point where it begins to lead to chemistry but my chemistry's a bit shitty) so if anyone here has anything infos about what one studies there or the career prospects or what subjects one needs to excel in or if it will be very tiring to share, it will be very helpful

Thank you so much for your time!

Abigail.

P.S. : sorry if my English is a bit funny, I'm not a native English speaker and we have different terminologies here where I live...

I can't say that I am in either of these, but I want to encourage you to pursue whichever sounds more interesting to you, and don't worry about the difficulty. Looking at future courses without the prior prerequisites can make the course flow seem daunting. As long as you designate time for your studies, most people can accomplish wherever their heart is.

As far as sucking at chemistry, it's a subject you need to really designate time for if you want to understand it. Most universities have aides and tutors available to help you, which is typically included in tuition. You'll also need to potentially but outside sources to help you like "Chemistry for Dummies" that can break down topics into chunks that will make it more understandable to you. Forums can also be a great resource I've found, and people will help you understand your homework.

Ultimately you just need to designate time to study, and be passionate about the topics. I'm sure you can do it.

Good luck.

I pursued biotechnology in high school for four years. I was going to go to college for it, but my chemistry skills still lacked despite the tutoring I received. If you think you can do it, then I think you should. It's an amazing field to get into. Not only will you be learning everyday, you'll get paid a lot when you graduate as well. science is a great field.

Sorry I don't have any legitimate advice.
