Year 11 - November 26th 2015, 06:26 AM

Ok so I'm going to be in year 11 next year which means I'm graduating in 2 years. This means at my school, I am officially classified as a senior and I have to wear the senior uniform, which I don't really mind much. I am just really nervous about finishing school and today was my last day at school for the year. I am nervous not because of being a senior, but because so many people are leaving at the end of the year and I'm never going to see them again as they are moving to different parts of Australia. I don't want them to leave. Also, next year everything gets so much harder, which even this year I only just managed a pass in a lot of subjects, in saying that, I did get a A+ for science so I am proud of that one, and an A- for English, which I suck at English so I'm proud of that too. I just have no idea what to do now school is over for the year, so many people leaving and extra workload, I don't think I'll be able to manage. Oh well, I'll see.

Re: Year 11 - November 28th 2015, 11:31 AM

Hey there,

When we become seniors, it can be both an exciting and upsetting time. It's great to be growing up, developing in the subjects you are interested in and thinking about your future and what you want to do. But it's also understandably a difficult time when we think of all the change that will take place. People move away, go to different colleges, new people take their place etc. It can be hard letting go of what we know and love, especially if friends wont be with us. I think this would be a good time to show your friends your appreciation of their friendship and try to find the time to spend some real quality time together before you all go off and do different things. Also, I'm sure if you ask, they'll let you keep in touch with them and vice versa! And when the time comes, you can all arrange a get together like a reunion. Friendships can survive even when there is great distance between them

The workload and subject matter may well get harder, but it wont be unmanageable, if you use your time wisely. And if you do struggle, don't be afraid to ask for help- that's what teachers are there for! It sounds like you have done really well in science and English- you definitely deserve to feel proud and I hope that you continue to get good grades too
