what to take in college become a music manager - May 17th 2009, 06:19 PM

Yeah, you all remember my thought on getting into wild life rehabilitation well i really dont' think that's my calling I mean yeah it's a nice career but the thing is you don't make any money doing that so I'm thinking music management. Music has always been my thing, I've lost my hearing so much . I used to be able to sing and hit a note and now I can't hear the music right to be sure the notes right or hear myself correctly it's really aggervating. So anyways I want to know if anyboey knows what to take in college such as courses and whatnot to become a manager.

You can't live a positive life with a negative mind and if you have a positive outcome you have a positive income and just to have more positivity and just to kind of laugh it off. ~ Miley Cyrus

Music technology would be a good place to start. I'd also say Business Studies could help you in the future if you want your own record company aswell.

This is what my friend is aspiring to do, at the moment she is taking a Business-Admin course, then I'm sure theres a music course she is doing after that.

Music courses would be good, especially one's that help with more the technical side of music if that makes sense. And like said, business studies would be helpful as well.

Have you considered talking to a career counsellor/someone at the college who could help to see what they think as well?

Like said, any high level Business course would be a excellent. With a good Business degree under your belt, you can do basically anything to do with managing. I reckon it would be a good idea to get in contact with whatever College you're interested in going to and they'll certainly be able to point you in the right direction. I would say a Business degree is probably a must-have for this sort of job.

Business (like some others said), and then be willing to be very underpaid for the beginning of your career as you try to get 'in' to the music business. Need to have as many connections as possible because it is a really tight field.
