Got a new job! - September 16th 2016, 07:23 AM

Okay, so I lost my job in June, because I finished my contract, but also prior to having the review, I had 2 weeks off due to my wrist, and because of that, they said I can't continue. After months of searching for jobs, I found one in my local restaurant/bar. I applied, but I didn't think I would get anywhere, as I don't have any kitchen experience. Luckily, I got an e-mail to say I had an interview, and when I went, it went well. After a week I got no reply, so I thought I had been unsuccessful. On Saturday, I got a phone call saying to come in on Tuesday for a trial shift. I thought I wouldn't be able to handle the job, because one of the lunchtime rushes we had, was really stressful. The second rush, was easier, and they must've been happy with the work I was doing as they asked me to come back for an induction, which I had yesterday. They put me on the system, and I start on the 26th September (I would start earlier, but I'm on vacation from Monday-Friday next week) So I'm really excited to have a job now, and even though I have no experience in the kitchen, I'm happy about this job, and I really can't wait. Someone told me (On my trial day) that she doesn't enjoy the job, but she doesn't feel she can get another job, so she puts up with it. I feel like I would actually enjoy this job, which is great Definitely helped with my depression, as I've been very depressed when I get an e-mail to decline me, and I feel it could help with my anxiety, as it'll distract me

Congratulations. I am glad to hear things are going well.

Don't let it discourage you if someone else doesn't like the job - it could just be a bad fit for them. It'd be like expecting me to like a sales job just because some of my colleagues thrive in a sales role, it just doesn't work, I hate sales.

I hope that you will continue to like the job

Feel free to PM me if you ever need to chat or have questions
