Tax Refund??? - May 21st 2009, 12:57 PM

So, i'm 17...been working in my job for 9 months or so...getting taxed between 20 and 60 a month, depending on overtime. I'm in full time college. During the first 3months of this job, I worked at another job as well, but was not taxed.

I'm pretty certain I shouldnt be paying tax. But, I filled in a form p60 or something, and handed it in to my manager last month.

What happens now? When should I get this money? How do I know whether I should have been paying tax or not?

Ok, you were right to get taxed at the start. If you have two jobs, whatever has been classed as your second job will get taxed.

If you now only have the one job, then you should have stopped paying tax, maybe take it up with your boss?

But i was told that because the income of both jobs, was still WAY under the taxable minimum...6000 me thinks...
that I can get it all refunded....

P46? I think thats the form i filled in. One side, i filled in my national insurance number, and that i'd had 2 jobs in this tax year...the second side my employer should have filled in.

I got paid this week, so i'll speak to my boss on sunday, apparently i'll get my p60 which tells me total that i was taxed. But that still doesnt explain how i get this back.

MAN IT'S CONFUZZLING

I don't know if this applies to you at all but when my bonds were being taxed I had to fill out an R65 (I think that was the one) form..?

I'm still sure that no matter the income of your 2nd job, you will get taxed.

Oh. Thats not good news. I was told differently, my tax was more than my wage from my other job. But i've been taxed for around 4months since i've dropped the second job...i should definately get that back rihgt?

I got a form a couple of months ago from my bank to let me know they were going to start taking tax off and if i wasn't eligable (which im not as i only work about 6 hours a week) then i had to fill it in and take to my bank.
I can't remember what the form was called so im not sure whether it's the same thing as others have mentioned?

And yeah you should deffo get the tax back.

I'll speak to my boss tomorow. But i've found out, that you still get tax back even if you have to jobs, as long as the total is still under the minimum level. And i'll get 250 tax refunded. over 9 months work. Which is great for summer.

I'll speak to my boss tomorow, see if she can help
