Help!! I need a job really badly and I've applied to several places, but I don't know what to do!!

I really need a summer job right now. Like, really badly. My mom lost her job and went bankrupt and can't work right now and I'm moving away for college in the fall and I need to make as much money as I can. I've applied to 5 places in the area (grocery stores, fast food, convenient stores, etc.) and I'm not sure what do do now. I've called all the places after applying to them, and they either took down my name and number, or told me to call later. So what should I do now to make sure I get hired at at least one of those places? Should I keep calling them? How often should I call?

Also, my friend is looking for a job and she says none of the places are hiring people just for the summer right now, but I can only work for the summer since I'm moving away in the fall. What do I do to make sure I get a job soon?

Hi there,
I've always been pretty lucky getting jobs, but I really wouldnt recommend phoning too often. Once you've applied i'd wait to hear. A few steps to help get a job...

1) Have good interview skills, even when asking whether they have spaces....confidence and smart clothes work.

2) People are likely to be leaving jobs in the summer, get someone to put in a word for you, if you know anyone.

3) Apply everywhere, even if you dont really want to work there. Once you've got a job, it's easier to get a better one.

4) Make your application form and references as best as possible

5) If you've no luck, try making money your own way. Babysitting? Dogwalking? Gardenining? Cleaner? These are all jobs that you can do.

6) Look in friday ad- or similar...they have people asking for workers. But becareful if applying to a home job.

GOOD LUCK
