Need opinions? - December 20th 2016, 02:32 AM

One of my teachers at school means the absolute world to me. She helps me through a lot of things and has helped boost my confidence in myself. Since she always goes above and beyond for me I wanted to give her a Christmas gift. She gave me something she made and a really sweet note. I know what her favorite store is so I went ahead and got her a $25 gift card since I can't really think of any specific things to buy her. The problem is that I'm afraid some may think that I'm doing it as a bribe since finals are this week. I was thinking that I should probably go give it to her after I take my test and not before because honestly in no way am I trying to do this as a bribe and I think she would know that. On the exam I'll be perfectly happy with whatever score I get because I'll know I tried my best. I'm not even sure if the school allows us to give teachers gift cards... I just don't want anyone getting the wrong idea. I just want to do it as a way to thank her for all she's done for me. Should I just forget the whole thing?

Hi there,

First of all I love your username! I love Disney

I think that buying your teacher a gift card is FANTASTIC. She will realize that what she has done for you has helped you and that you cared about it (her help).

I think you should buy a Christmas card that you can put the gift card in. That way to the other kids it looks like just a regular card. I think that you should give it to her either before your test (if there's no one around) or after. It's up to you, but I think you should give it to her

Let us know what you decide!
Best of luck on your test!!

I think it's really sweet that you want to give your teacher a gift! I always got Christmas gifts for my favorite teachers and they always appreciated it, so I'm sure yours will too.

I'm not sure if this applies at your school, but at mine (when I was in high school) we could not give the teachers money as a gift and the teachers were not allowed to accept it. We could give them something we bought or made, but not things like cash or giftcards. If you want to be sure, you could check with your principal or whoever is in charge at your school.

If you end up not being able to give your teacher a gift card you could ask her what sorts of things she likes specifically aside from the store. And regardless of the gift you get your teacher, I know the gesture of getting her something will mean a lot to her. Not everyone thinks of getting their teachers a gift after elementary school.

wreckage of their life to build something beautiful brand new,
against every odd that is stacked against them.” — Nikita Gill

That's such a sweet thing to do, I'm sure she'll really appreciate it My dad is a teacher and he and none of his colleagues have ever had a bribe, so I wouldn't worry about that! As has been suggested, just check if you can give gift cards, but either way you could still write a Christmas Card just explaining how grateful you are and the thought behind the card. I'm sure it will be very much appreciated!

It's touching of you to have given a gift to your teacher, especially seeing as she means so much to you. I'm really glad to hear that your teacher accepted your gift and that it made you both happy. Since the situation has been resolved, I'll go ahead and close the thread now
