Post Online classes advice!! - March 25th 2017, 10:13 PM

I've been searching the internet and looking at ways I can take online classes while still attending school. My high school only allows to take APs Junior+ and really want to take some Sophemore year and maybe some honors during Freshman. (the school I'm going to doesn't even offer honors at all!!) Do you think I will be able to add these classes to my transcript? I don't want to do them if they can't be added. << I only want to take them to benefit my future GPA and chances to getting into a nice college. Any recommendations on cheap or free ones to take?

See if your school has a relationship with your local community college that allows high school students to take college courses for free. Most of the time you have to be a junior or senior, but that's probably your best bet. I'd be weary of free and/or online classes that aren't connected to places or schools you've heard of.

I'm not sure where you are but I know that the province I live in has options to take AP classes online. My sister is in some right now as an extra supplement for her on top of her courses at her school. She's taking it through a home school program that offers 9 different AP classes that will show up on her transcript and count towards her GPA.

You could also check to see if any other schools in your district or area? You might be able to do distance learning.

I hear some ivy leagues are offering very limited free online classes https://www.class-central.com/collection/ivy-league-moocs take a look at this!! Not sure if it's legit, haven't tried it myself but look into it. Also, as Katie mentioned before, check out your local community college and see which courses they might have available. Usually they have connections with high schools for students who want to do just what you want to do. They're sometimes not free so I suggest speaking with an academic counselor to see what your options are!
