Exclamation I might get suspended; what should I do? - March 8th 2018, 02:04 AM

My school has been very strict on this ridiculous dress code, but ONLY FOR GIRLS! The boys never get dress coded for anything, because my school is incredibly sexist. So, I decided to put on my snapchat story that people should wear anti-dresscode clothes (nothing crazy just shoulderless tops, etc.), then I took it down three hours later, because I realized that I could get suspended for it. The problem is that there have already been at least 5 people to screenshot it and put it on their story. What should I do? I realize that the school is very wrong in doing this, but I don't want to be suspended or kicked off the volleyball team. Please hurry with your answers. Update: 2 people took it off their story.

Unless you posted the Snapchat on a school device or on school property, I don't think they'll suspend you for saying it. But, if you were to wear non-dress code, then they could discipline you for it. If you really want it changed, talk to whatever adult has the power to do so and have evidence ready to support your claim that boys never get dress coded and the rules only apply to girls.

Since you removed your story, and other people removed it from theirs, you may not get suspended. If teachers get wind of this, or someone does turn up in something other than the dresscode, then they might want to talk to you. But since you already took it down, and you weren't actually organising an event e.g. on a certain day, then there isn't much the school could do.

As it's been said, you could always talk to someone at the school about your views on the dresscode and see if anything can be changed.
