A lot of the teachers think I hate them... - May 10th 2018, 03:19 AM

A few days a week I go to my sister's school to help during her planning time. Often I will pass other teachers in the hall and my introverted self only returns greetings. I also have a resting scowl. My sister's mentioned that several of them wonder if I hate them

Hey there,

I can relate to this as I struggle with not always smiling and being introverted. It doesn't help that I struggle in social situations due to social anxiety. That being said, I think that it is up to the teachers to try and engage you instead of talking to your sister about it. The teachers are adults and they should realize that people have a lot going on and they should approach that person to see if they are okay and go from there. It used to irritate me (still does) when people would go to my family or friend's to see if I didn't like them. I think it's a better idea to come to the person and get an idea of what is going on.

As for how to respond, you could try talking to the teachers that think you do not like them. Let them know that you are just introverted and struggle a lot with talking to people due to that. I think that might be the best way to try and get this fixed. If that isn't something that you would be comfortable with you could try and smile a bit more at people, I suppose.

Best regards.
