Terrified - July 3rd 2018, 01:08 AM

I go to a community college and I've been taking classes there on and off since 2009. My major is psychology. I went and saw my academic advisor today because I wasn't sure which classes to take for the fall. He went over my transcript and told me something that terrified me: I'm almost done. I just have several classes left and then I'll have my associates' degree, after which I can transfer to a university.

I don't know what to do or how to feel about this. Part of me never thought I would make it this far, I guess. And now that I'm here I'm like what do I DO? I'm about to have a freakin' degree! It's awesome, but scary as hell.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Just words of encouragement, I guess? Or maybe someone telling me it's not as scary as it seems? Anything helps.

Love joins
Love unites
Love breaks us apart
The power to conquer here in our hearts
Enduring and sacred
Eternal as time
For love, love alone will conquer all

I am jealous, congratulations! I can see why it's scary, you've relied on this system for 20+ years through elementary, middle, and high school; and then college on and off with other things in between. So it isn't 20+ years consecutive, but it's been there, you know you can go back to it and complete your goal. I'm jealous because you did it, Jordan. You got your freaking Associate's degree! It may have taken nine years, but you persisted and never gave up despite everything else you've gone/been going through.

I don't have any advice on what you are asking other than that, but I think you should keep going. Work towards your next degree, which is Bachelor's. It means leaving the Community College system, yeah; but hopefully there is a state college or university system nearby that you can attend without having to really readjust your life.

I wish you all the best no matter what you decide to do.

I felt the same way when I ended up getting my associates. I was terrified for a lot of reasons but part of me didn't know what to do after. For me, getting my associates was when I was going to try looking for work and that kind of stuff scared me. Try and be proud of yourself for getting this far. I know it wasn't easy but I also know you work really hard to get here. When you get your degree, try and enjoy it.
