Discouraged - February 9th 2019, 04:00 PM

A couple months ago, my manager came to me and said that she was planning on creating another head cashier position and training me for it, which would be a promotion. Corporate wonít let her create that position, so my promotion has now been cancelled. She got me an interview for another position that would he full time, but I blew the interview because I suck at interviews. It doesnít matter how prepared I am, I will inevitably freeze up, forget my answers, and stutter like crazy.

I became involved in a business venture with my sister, and I seem to be failing at that, too, because I just donít know the right people. I was really hoping it would work out as it would have been an amazing opportunity for me and my son, but Iím really struggling to make any headway with that either.

Career wise, Iím feeling so defeated and I just donít know what to do. I feel like my entire life has been in a downslide since my service dog died, and now my careeers are are starting to snowball with it.

Hey there.

Interviews are so stressful and I totally get the freezing up part. There are websites that can help you better prepare for interviews and what I use to do was get flash cards and write the questions down and really think about it to give my best answers. Then when I felt better with my answers I had a friend or a parent go over the questions with me until I felt better answering them aloud and in front of someone.

As far as the business venture with your sister try to consider any skills that you may be better at? Maybe you are good with making a schedule, maybe you are good with numbers and you can do book keeping. I mean being a business partner you will learn what you excel at and what you don't.

It is all a learning experience and we are bound to fail at somethings but we cannot let it define us. And sometimes we have to do a little extra work and some soul searching but I am sure you will figure it out. if you need to talk feel free to message me and I hope that is helped! (:

That is exactly how I prepare. I can do perfect interviews at home while practicing, but the second I get into an actual interview, I blow it. As for the business with my sister, that's unfortunately not something I can do. It's more of a self-employed with a little hit of tram work type of thing. Her business is separate from me, but we are a team because we help each other out and she brought me into it. It's a network marketing business, and so far I am horrible at it, which is really discouraging because I had so hoped that I would be able to have it as an extra income.

Maybe have your current boss sit in with you during the interview. Maybe it will ease your nerves. It sounds like she likes you a lot.

Have you tried making stuff and selling it? Thats also a good way to earn some income.
