Caught up in a vicious cycle. >.< - January 16th 2009, 12:11 PM

So, I was sick a lot from September-December and I missed over 6 weeks of school. A lot of those days I wasn't even that sick, but I just couldn't face going in.
The thought of school somehow became a nightmare. I was dreading it day after day. The doctors eventually fixed me somewhat and I had a full week and a half at school before the Christmas holidays.
Now we're back after Christmas, and I was only in school 5 days when I got sick again- that was on Wednesday.
I woke up thursday and was fairly okay but couldn't force myself to go in so I faked sick. Went to bed last night determained that I was going to go in today, but faked sick again this morning.
What the hell am I gonna do?! If I miss anymore school I'll probably end up repeating or something but I just can't bring myself to go in!

The 16 year old exams, ie GCSE's are jokishly easy, you do not need a teacher for them. However you must study, sure if your ill thats fine, but you can always study at home.

Read your text books, study them, research topics further on the internet. If you do that I see no reason why you could not get a good grade at GCSE due to simply how easy they are and how little knowledge you need to pass them.

GCSE is understanding the very basic concepts.
A-level - is understanding detailed concepts and explaning why? How? etc

If when your at home, you work say 6 hours a day, which is a school day, so with lunch actual education is probably 5 hours... and your on your own, so less distractions and more pure research etc. You could probably cut it down to 3-4 hours a day and coem out with a good grade.

I did this for my a-level chemistry as my teacher was a complete cock. The only lessons I attended for chemistry were the practicals that I was forced to go to. Otherwise I didn't go to any chemistry lessons and taught myself it. Came out with an A, in A2.

Checking your textbooks is a good idea as is asking teachers if they have any class notes. As James said, you only really have to know instead of knowing why and how. I'm certain the teachers will be willing to help you catch up, especially if you were ill - there is bound to be a process for it within in the school.

What Subjects are you doing?

And remember, Monday is a new week and a new start :]

Well, we have the Junior Cert. which is basically the same thing. I did it last year and got on fine. It was fairly easy. ^^

Yeah, I know, but I usually make it to about Wednesday and then can't take it anymore.

Is it because you've been ill recently? Or just because it is boring?

Well partly because every time I go back after being ill everyone gets all bitchy about it and says I'm faking and all.
Partly because my teachers hate me cause I missed so much school.
And partly because I'm just so tired all the time.

Wow, I have exactly the same problem as you! My teachers all hate me because I've missed so much and people bitch loads. Then once I'm finaly back I find it's just so hard to get back into the cycle I give up again. What I've been doing recently is waking up at 6 and just lying in my bed until 7 going through all the reasons why I should get up and it really does help to wake up with plently of time to actualy get out of bed, give it a try! x

Gah, I'm the same. I didn't go in today.

You just have to push yourself. Ignore everything and everyone, and show your teachers how, even though you've missed so much school... You can be better than everyone else.

Asking them what you've missed and for some help will really get them to respect you.

Maybe talk to the head about whats been going on and she can try and help you as well?

I do the same thing.

I hate to say it, but you've just gotta suck it up and go. It's school. We all hate being there.

when you love and laugh abundantly you live a beautiful life.
