make your vocation your vacation - August 3rd 2009, 09:00 PM

i have a general idea of waht i plan on doing after high school. I am currently attending a vocational high school. I am majoring Autobody and Collision Repair. when I get out of school I want to enlist in UTI Collision Repair. it is a year and two week long course but the down fall is, I live in massachusetts the only schools that have that program are in Texas and California. after I grad from UTI i plan on enlisting into the United States Air Force as a Jet mechanic and have small autobody jobs on the side on the base. i havent quite worked out all the details yet but thats where im generaly headed. any advice or suggestions let me know i might take it.

When you enlist, make sure that what you want to do is specifically put into your contract. Otherwise, they will stick you wherever they want. It wont be impossible to change where they stick you, but my understanding is that it is a very difficult bureaucracy to navigate through. If you know someone who is already enlisted who is intelligent that you can trust, have them go with you when you enlist to help.
