Missing my graduation - August 18th 2009, 04:37 AM

My school has graduation in October, instead of June. I think they do it so the students can come back and have a reunion and such. But I'm really not interested in going. I did my senior year in a new school and even though I made some friends, there wasn't anyone who I particularly connected with. Plus, it will be a boring 3 hour event with a bunch of people just talking and stuff, telling us how to live our life. Also, I'm taking the year off, working, travelling, figuring out what I want to do with my life. I know that it will make me depressed if I go and hear about other people's accomplishments, scholarships, schools they got in, etc.

I finished high school, I graduated, I moved on. I have no interest in physically going back there.

What are your thoughts?

Graduation, like a lot of other things, is what you make of it. To some people it's a really important event, and some people don't really care about it. There's nothing wrong with either. If you weren't that attached to the school in the first place, and you think going to graduation will upset you, then I don't see anything wrong with not going.

Not around so much now that school's started

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just,
then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
