I find making flash cards or games works well for me. Write down the word on one side, and the definition on the other. Make up practice tests, get sentences with the words off the internet, erase your words and replace them with blanks, print it out, and see how many you can fill in. Or turn it into a matching game, write down the words on pieces of paper, write down the definitions, and see how many you can match.

Not around so much now that school's started

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just,
then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Flash cards are definitely helpful. There are websites where you can make them online and all you have to do is print them out. Another way to do it is to write each word at least 3-5 times and this method will def. help you remember.

Check out my blog: White-Out Blots

How did Mandela get the will to surpass the everyday,
When injustice had him caged and trapped in every way,
How did Ghandi ever withstand the hunger strikes and all,
Didn't do it to gain power or money if I recall,
It's to give; I guess I'll pass it on

You can re-write the definition of the word but do so using your own wording, write it so it makes sense to you. You can then use that word in a sentence and re-write the sentence.

My way of going about it is just to do what I'm great at doing: memorize it and then cover up the definition of the word and think or say the definition out loud, then check to see if I'm right.
