Well, good luck!

I thought about the airforce for a while too but then realized how much I hate taking orders lol. I'm one of those people; you push, I push back. The military and I wouldn't get along

Good luck! I could never do it. There is something about unjust wars that I can't stand to be a part of, no matter how insignificant I would be. The Airforce, in the past year, has killed numerous Afghan and Iraqi civilians that were completely innocent.

Good Luck! I hope you have a very rewarding career!

On a side note... Afghan kills from the American Forces? Not as many seeing as it is mostly the Canadian Forces stationed in Afghanistan. I have to say, this is a war we're talking about, and unfortunately civies get hurt. I mean, look at how many civilians we're killed when Afghanistan* decided to crash two planes into the Trade Center? I realize that isn't justification, but it is war.

You do realise that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11? They're totally unrelated issues. I find it shocking how many people seem to think Iraq had something to do with it...

On a more on-topic note, good luck! I hope everything goes well for you.

So doesn't that just say that we should avoid this 'war' because too many civilians are dying?

I don't know, I just can't see how the invasion of a sovereign nation to eliminate people that are suspected of future terrorist attacks on the US is a worthy reason to endanger the lives of civilians and our soldiers.

And most importantly, IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11 BOMBINGS

Re: Joining the Military - October 29th 2009, 03:23 AM

Ooops sorry, I didn't mean to say Iraq... It's just I always refer to Iraq when talking about the Afghan/Iraq vs. States war since Bush decided to link the two into common cause.

I also feel the need to say I don't support the war, in fact I hate it. But I do support the soldiers who go out there. And MANY soldiers, at least in the CAF believe they are making a difference in the lives of the Afghani people. So I guess I'm for the help and peace treatyish thing that is going on in Afghan, but totally against what the States is doing Iraq (seeing as it's all just a ploy for oil ((IMO)) ).

In War none wins There are no sides one is not stronger. If fact I find both sides rather stupid to engage in hand to hand combat. I am not going for the blood or the glory. I want to go to better my life. Straighten me out and at teh same time fix jet aircrafts. Following my grandfathers footsteps. Yes thats war people die and many innocent are injured but there is always going to be casulties. Thats whats wrong with most people today they tend to incorporate muslins from Iraq and so on to part of 9/11. Thus building an intollerance to the muslim people who are NOT extramist like the taliban.

Yes, I think people need to realise that unless you're carrying out saturation bombing (and I don't think they even do that any more), the life of a pilot is similar to playing a game, albeit a very realistic and expensive one. Even bombing runs are carried out with pinpoint accuracy these days, and chances are you'll end up in a support role anyway (I would LOVE to fly AWACS as a job, but don't think I'd have the stomach for it )

Re: Joining the Military - November 3rd 2009, 06:55 PM

I found out today that 2 of my friends are also joining the airforce. If we recruit at the same time we can do the buddy system. So I will wait untill they are both 19 cuz thats when they want to join. Gives me some time to realy think about all this and live a little. But with out a doubt i am joining there is no question about it
