There are a bunch of majors that could help you career-wise. Basically, any engineering major (e.g. Mechanical, Computer, etc) will help you out. Economics, Business, Finance, Accounting majors are great too.

Yeh as sushi said, civil engineering is in major demand. If you get a degree you will be head hunted for. All the engineers in management position from the baby boom, are retiring. So if you get into the right company you will be zoomed up to the management position pretty soon after you exit uni.

Engineering is pretty big right now. So is nursing.

Nursing is definitely in demand. Doctors are another job that will always be needed.
