Unhappy College Math Assessment - November 9th 2009, 03:26 AM

Math is pretty much the one thing that gets me everytime. I'm horrible at math. Thing is I want to transfer to a four year, so If I get put into lower classes I'll be wasting my time which I REALLY don't want to do. I need review. Can some of you give me the formulas in Algebra/Geometry and whatever else you think will help me? Please.

Re: College Math Assessment - November 9th 2009, 07:30 PM

So, basically what I remember from geometry is...

Isosceles/Equilateral triangles
Opposite Angles/Parallel line angles
Some minor sin, cos, and tan usage
Circles fun

that was the majority of it, everything else was from a previous class or very common knowledge. Formulas for it that I remember:

Opposite angles are always equal
A line that goes across two parallel lines has congruent angles
sin = y/r
cos = x/r
tan = y/x
sin^2 + cos^2 = 1
two others I forget
circles:
A = [pi]r^2
C = (pi)d

algebra has too much to condense to a post, looking it up will definitely help. Geometry has millions of other easy little formulas if you don't remember them.

What you said about Geometry sounds familiar, could you elaborate?
I need to know algebra and some geometry. I don't really think I can handle any higher math...

Eh, Holly it isn't so bad . I started in a low math when I started college. 3 terms now and I only have 1 more that I have to take math . It's not a waste of time- trust me.

Re: College Math Assessment - November 10th 2009, 11:30 PM

Sure. In a drawing like this

A=D, B=C, E=H, G=F due to opposite angle law

and since the lines are parallel and the crossing line hits them both at the same angle because it is straight, A=D=H=E and B=C=F=G.

180degrees - A = B

That?
