Hmmm...??? - November 11th 2009, 10:50 PM

Oh I posted this in the wrong forum but don't know how to move it! Will somebody move it please? Thanks.

So my friends, all my age and 4 of us, invited me to go to a University in Australia. By the way, I live in the United States. They are all paying there own way. I had planned on going to Concordia University in Portland, Oregon. Or possibly C.U. in Bronxville, New York. I was planning on majoring in either music education, social services, or something in the medical field.
One friend wants to be a marine biologist, another to be a vetrinarian (excuse the spelling), and the other friend wants to be a engineer. I know they will go seperate ways. I just know. And if I go, I will go a whole seperate way, and probably end up alone. But they want to live there. I don't.
I'm a junior in high school, so I haven't quite gotten there, but I'm getting so close. No. Scratch that. I AM close to graduation! So close! And I have NO idea what I want to do. I want to go with my friends, because they are planning to meet up with a lot of my other friends that live there. But at the same time I don't?
Should I do what's best for me, or what I want to do? It would be fun, but we'll probably just end up partying all the time, not minding our studies. I don't know.

Hi there Laela,

It's okay to not know what to do right now. There are many people out there who take a long time to make up their minds, so you are not alone. And some are constantly changing their minds. Just be mindful not to make any rushed life-changing decisions.

I think you should do what's best for you. Make a list of all the pros and cons of staying in America and moving to Australia. Don't go just because of your friends. You have your whole life ahead of you, and you'll probably want to give yourself the best chance possible in starting your career. You said that you will all end up going your separate ways and that you don't want to live in Australia. Don't force yourself. You can always visit your friends in Australia from time to time. You'll make new friends when you start University, and you can still keep in touch with your current friends. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders, so you'll be able to make the best decision for yourself. Good luck!

If you want to talk more about this, or anything, just let me know.

Halcyon
