Makeup Artistry

I'm really interested in going into makeup artistry and I believe that I would be good in this career (as with any other aesthetics). I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on how to get into this field and what it's really like behind the scenes. Any information on makeup schools in Canada would also be great, especially if by someone who's gone through the school.

i think it's a question of looking around what's in your area.. Canada is a big place, a big place i know nothing about, unfortunately. just google makeup/beauty schools in your area and find out what courses they are offering. a good idea is to try and get some work experience or an apprenticeship with a makeup artist or in a salon or something similar. in the mean time, get practising on your friends and build a portfolio, it'll help when it comes to interviews for a place of the course..

Local community colleges typically offer make up stuff. I believe places where they offer hairdressing have some programs offered, I would prefer to go to a private school for that stuff than community college. I am not sure where you are located but I am in the maritimes. Check out places like the Academy of Cosmetology, Maritime Beauty, Concepts etc. Talk to your school guidance councellor or google make up schools in Canada. I believe to get in most of these schools you pretty much just need to graduate high school or have your GED. I am not make up artistry profession but I hear the people who do it love it.
