Lightbulb Navy Seal team, or study Anatomy? - January 2nd 2010, 01:46 AM

Two things I love, military and how the body works.

My parents always told me, do something you love. So, I'm at a crossroads. I would love to be part of the Seals, but then again I don't want to work for the military for too long, and some freedoms it would take. I could study anatomy, but then where would I apply that? I don't know what jobs are out there for someone who studies anatomy.

All I'm looking for is advice. Anyone have any suggestions on how to beat the system? Lol.

I'd recommend study a broader field than just anatomy, but make sure it has a lot of it in, plus this would give you a broader amount of places to apply this knowledge

Gotcha, I'll look into what fields are there. I guess we'll see what comes of that ha.

i'd probably study first, then once you've got your qualifications under your belt - do some time in the navy seals and you've got your education to fall back on once you decide to move on.. and yes, i think a studying a wider field might be a good idea, also.

..and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears..

Okay, I just tried searching for fields, and I can't find much. Any keyword suggestions?

Ok first and for most I would study anatomy its way more practical, not to mention there are a lot of jobs in that field.

Anatomy is usually coupled with physiology and there's an enormous field possible. Since you like combat and health care, why not combine them and be a doctor, surgeon, medic and so forth for combat? The other fields are simply so diverse: surgical practices, dentistry, neuroscience, cardiology, endocrinology, pharmacology, evolutionary biology, etc... . Within each of these, there are numerous possibilities as well as other fields I didn't mention.

I'm studying in neuroscience mostly, and within the field there are various opportunities for only research, only clinical work and both. It's a field with high demand in my view but don't let my bias influence you too much lol.

Unless your life ambition is to be a Navy Seal, don't try it. The Seals are almost impossible to get into (one year not one candidate succeeded), so unless you think that you'll be able to put all you energy into it I'd stick to something that offers you more options.
