New career! - March 20th 2010, 07:39 PM

This could fit in a couple of different places, but this is where I'll put it

I'm crazy happy right now (scary thought eh?). I have passed my two week course and am starting to look into the EMS service in town (my course was an EMR course). I still have my registration exam to write in May (have to register for it next week) but I'm sure if I keep up on my studying I'll have no problem.

I contacted the town's EMS service yesterday and I am assuming I will be hearing from them this week. I have already talked to the registry in Airdrie and will be (hopefully) getting my full class 5 license shortly. Meanwhile, I will be studying for my class 4 learners and write that in town.

While I'm kind of waiting for all this to happen, I am going to be applying to the town's fire department, sure I would be hired as a volunteer (for at least 6 months) but it gets me into the service and it gets my more training and helps me with the physical aspects of being an EMR/EMT. Of course, in August I will be starting my 6 month course on the way to become an EMT, and by this time next year.... I should be a working medical professional (seeing as I'm not exactly working at the moment, obviously).

This is really exciting for me, as I finally have my life back together and I'm doing something that I actually enjoy!

Congratulations, that's brilliant! good luck with the volunteering and the course. It's such a noble profession to be going into, kudos.

Religion is like a penis.
It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.
And PLEASE don't try and shove it down my throat.

Thank you! Both of you

Rachel: I am really enjoying it so far, alot of people say it's really hard (seeing what EMS sees) but, I also know that I am a strong person and I'm sure I"ll be able to handle it.

I have always had a lot of respect for all emergency personnel and now I am very happy that I am going to be one of them
