To place on a resume/application or not - March 26th 2010, 03:18 PM

I've been volunteering here for almost 2 years now and I've been trying to decide whether to put it on a resume/application. I essentially want to do what I do here so it could look good that I have "experience" or it could backfire because the site isn't well-known, it's an online-only organization, and it might look like I'm "playing psychologist" when I know I'm not qualified. I'm leaning towards no for those reasons. What do you guys think?

I think so long as you explained what your role is and that you're just offering advice i think it would be fine. don't see what's wrong with it? :/

No. Professionals do not recommend the use of sites such as these, so you risk making yourself look irresponsible and unprofessional

You could say "peer mentoring via email" which is not untrue.

I would seriously advise against mentioning TH explicitly.

I agree ^ you should not even put this website on a resume or job application. It isn't something that most employers read over or even care about.

Maybe what you could do is under your 'interest' section if you have one, is that you enjoy helping people. It could help out.. Good luck
