Whereabouts in the world are you? I don't know much about the US but in the UK you can speak to connexions or look at job centre website.

I second what he says ^
Go to your local job centre, they can set you up with an under 17's adviser and they can give you advice on what steps to take.

If you're in the US try going around to local shops in town. Those types of places will usually hire under 18. You could also try convenience stores and grocery stores. You just have to go out and put yourself out there.

You should get an up to date CV before going around though

if you're in the UK you could try connexions, but my only experience with them has been a negative one. just get your CV out there and apply for loads of jobs, look in the local paper, go into shops and ask if they're hiring. you just gotta be pro-active really.

Try interning through your school. My school has a special intern employment program with a list of local businesses and institutions that take on high school interns. Not everything is paid, but you can get academic credit and work experience. Good stuff.

If its just a job in a shop you want, you could try looking them up online. Most retail companies have websites, and quite often you can apply there.
