CV Help - May 20th 2010, 07:01 PM

Well I originally posted this on the staff forums but I thought I'd post it here to get more replies since I want to get it handed out this weekend

Quote:
Well I've decided that I'm going to get a job since I want more money and keeping busy will also take my mind off things.

I found a CV builder site and I've managed to fill in most of the sections but my skills section is a little empty.

So far I have
Good social skills
Competent with technology
Very organised
Efficient problem solving skills
Work well under pressure
Can work well independently as well as part of a team

I just want to add more things to it you see but I suck at writing things like skills it's one of the reasons why I started writing my university personal statement so early so I have lots of time to think about this stuff.

Now I know you guys don't know my skills (well you might know some) so I was wondering if you could just throw some things out there and I'll see if they apply to me

If you've had a job before, you could always use Customer Service Skills

-Reliable
-Honest
-Hardworking.

Hm, only advice I can really think of is to remember, you're trying to convince your employer that you are the Awesome Offspring of Hercules, Superman, and the Silver Bloody Surfer, who absorbed the social skills of Tony Stark >.>.

Apologies for the geeky metaphor, but you get me? Don't be afraid to big yourself up, as long as everything you say is 'technically' true, go for it.

Also, do something to make your CV stand out from the pile, maybe give it a professional looking border. Small things like that can make the difference =).

Good luck!
