Amusement/theme park jobs? - September 25th 2010, 10:49 PM

I was thinking of getting a job at an amusement park or or a theme park this summer.
I know it's kind of early, but I want to apply before all the good positions are taken or there's none left at all.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has worked at one, or knows someone who has and what they thought of it.
I'd also have to live pretty far from home, which I don't think will be a problem, I'm at college right now and doing fine.
So if anyone has any experience working at an amusement/theme park or working and living far from home, let me know.
Thanks!

My sister worked at Disney land for a couple of years.
She liked it in the beginning... But it just got old..
The people used to irritate her and piss her off.
And some days, it was just really and hot and she really didn't want to be out there working.

Have you tried their websites to see what's available?

I have a friend that work at Six Flags, her complaints were also the weather and the people.

Good luck.

I personally, have never worked there, however, I think that you would need to be able to handle upset riders, weather (either extreme heat, rain, snow, coldness), people who have been drinking, and a bunch of other things. I'd definitely look into everything into more detail before you decide if you're going to do it or not. Good luck

Disney should be hiring soon and usually amusement parks have college fairs. Several offer dorm-like housing at a reduced rate for people to live in if they do not live close enough. However, I have heard it's a lot of hard work for
little pay in regards to both Disney and Cedar Point.

A few years ago, a coworker of mine worked at Cedar Point for about sixty hours a week. She worked on one of the larger rides though. Plus they had issues with being assaulted and the security personnel not showing up.
