BSN, ASN, or Paramedic - October 20th 2010, 12:56 AM

Eh, so I am thinking about what program I want to do next year. I have the option of basically waiting and hoping I get moved up in the waiting list for the ASN program (set to start fall 2012, but I probably will start spring 2012), trying to transfer over to the BSN program at a university by either fall 2011 or spring 2012, or trying to do a paramedic program.

The issue is that things could backfire on me if I do the paramedic program. It is 52 weeks and they run from fall to end of summer. If I get bumped in the nursing list, then I would be in serious trouble as I would be trying to finish out the paramedic program while taking full-time nursing classes with clinicals involved. I could do it, but I don't know how sane I would be at the end of it.

I am leaning towards possibly just waiting out the ASN and praying I don't get bumped. Then I will either try paramedic program at the local college where I am waiting for the ASN or go to a vocational school 1 hour away. The local college is really hard to get into, but they just started offering paramedic I more than once a year because they have so many applicants. I would have at the most five months of experience as an EMT-B though from a local fire department.

This is more of a rant in an attempt to organize myself and figure out a plan.
