To those of you who have taking the AP US History test... - January 8th 2009, 06:33 PM

Did you guys think it was hard? I've heard it's the most failed test. I know it covers basically everything, but any pointers on what to study? Any testing pointers? My APUSH teacher isn't the best, so i'm taking more of a "do it yourself" approach

Princeton Review/prep books/SparkNotes, pull all of your resources.
From my understanding, the only reason it's failed quite often is because of the necessity of directly recalled knowledge (rote memorization). There's no way to inference or extrapolate.
I'd just say practice like craaaazy. (: x

I got a 3. And a C in the class. And I didn't study. And you're Katie [read: you're incredibly smart], you probably have an A in the class, and you probably will study! Just make sure you know how to write a good essay, as I think that's where I knew the most stuff. As for the multiple choice, I don't remember a bit of what was on ours two years ago, or else I'd let you know. Good luck!

My friend took is last year and got a five. He studied his book, kept up on readings, read the review books, and sparknotes. He was also interested in history, in general and enjoyed the class and kept up the work ethic.

Any exam for AP is more or less easy if you care enough and study long enough. It might be the most failed because the most kids take this one without adequate prep.

I had a C and the only 5 for my class. What I did was read the big textbook (sorry, I don't remember the name), the shortened book written for the AP book when I felt like it, and I used flash cards that I bought from Books-A-Million.

Got an A in the class got a four on the test! I didn't find it too difficult. Best thing is to not worry about it too much. Really, if you're taking AP history odds are you like history, so taking an intro class in college won't be that terrible. I barely studied for it. (Terrible of me I know..) But simply reviewing with a group of friends. That helps you to recall things you might've not thought of on your own!

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I got an A in the class and when I took the test I got a 3. But almost my whole class took it and a lot of people got 4's and 5's. My teacher made us outline the whole book chapter by chapter for a grade and I just reviewed my notes. You might not want to outline the whole book, but take notes as you read and study them?

Not taking the APUSH test, but will be taking the US History SAT II. Are you studying out of the AMSCO book? I haven't looked it thoroughly, but it is consider THE book to study for either the AP or SAT II tests.

I'm not in AP US History as of now, but I am in AP European History. . . What I have found that helps me is flashcards, write down important key facts and dates and memorize them!!
You may also want to check out College Boards website and see about writing some sample essay questions as essay writing is huge, you have to know how to write a damn good essay. (Excuse the language.) I see you're from California, so I assumed you knew about college board previously?
